Lake Chelan info
« on: March 27, 2014, 12:36:34 PM »
Good afternoon, The wife and I are planning a mid September trip to Lake Chelan. Our goal is exploring and playing in and near Stehekin. My question is about boat ramps and safe parking as we are leaving the truck and trailer for a week. And also any ideas for hikes etc... Thank you very much, Any help is much appreciated.

Not positive about places to leave your truck and trailer but if it comes down to it, you can leave it at my house in Wenatchee. It would be a bit of a drive but if all else fails let me know.

I would launch from 25 mile state park.  There is a launch fee.  I don't know if they would charge to leave your vehicle for several days or if that would be included in the launch fee. That is the closest launch to Stehekin.  I would say the truck would be fairly safe because there are park rangers there a lot of the time.

Mill Bay is fine just by a season pass and don't leave valuables in view. Trucks and boats parked there all summer. 25 mile creek parking is limited unless you park across the road. Safe because the camp host lives over there. Cost $ per day :dunno: not fun to come out of the lake in a windstorm there. Then once you get there it is the early high hunt find some wheels or hitchhike up valley and start hunting BEARS and BUCKS just don't cross the line into the park while hunting :yike:

Thanks Romulus, That brings up a question about the wind. Is there a general pattern? I mean, some of those lakes, the wind will pick up at a general time like late morning till early afternoon. Is it similar there? Thanks
