Also to add to the MTN bike thread, Im looking for some new rain gear, After spending the weekend in westport and realizing that my current frog-togz jacket leaks in the elbow area somewhere. Im wanting to get something better. Not trying to spend 200$ for a top and 200$ for a bottom for 200$ for a whole outfit is reasonable.
What works? I have some north face hyvent venture pants and I kinda like them. But after reading some reviews I guess this line doesnt seem to last too long.

Marmot precip is good for being lightweight, packable, reasonably waterproof, and somewhat breathable. If just for hiking and light chores, it will be fine.

If you want something more durable grundens are decent and in your range. If it's really coming down and/or I expect to be doing any sort of heavy work I'll be wearing these.

Yeah it would mostly be for hiking and mild outdoors stuff. If I get caught in the rain kinda thing, Just to keep the wett out long enough to get out of the weather.

Marmot precip would be great then. I like the full leg zip on mine - not sure of current version. It allows for a good amount of ventilation and easy on/off without taking boots off. Grundens would be too heavy to be packable, IMO.

I've had my Cabela's Dry Plus packable raingear for 10 years now and it's still going strong with heavy use.

The other stuff I have that I like is the Cabelas space rain. It does tear easy so I wouldn't buy it for hunting if you're always in the thick stuff. It's quieter, packs down super small and is very Light.

Camofire.com just had the Core 4 Element rain jacket on sale for $90, I bought one a month ago, and they seem to be very well built. Sale on Camofire is done, but if you're interested, call the customer service number and let them know what you're looking for, and they'll hook you up.

FTF runs the Marmot Precip and it seems to hold up just fine. I've had multiple people recommend them whom I trust, so when someone is looking for a decent set without spending top dollar, this is where I send them.

Pants are pretty much shot. Jacket is still good. Ive got Sitka Nimbus top and bottom now so I likely won't replace the space rain stuff.

I used the core4element torrent jacket and pants same with my buddy, we both got soaked in a light and heavy down poor. gonna use some water proof spray on em an see if that helps.

If you go rivers west route I'd recommend the lightest possible.

I ran there early season gear into November and was always warm enough.

For now until I figure out what I want, I picked up a Columbia Glennaker rain coat, Its light and well see how it works. Should be here in a few days.

I have the kryptek and cant say that I would reccomend it... it leaks in the knees amd elbows. The price is lower than other bramds of camo raingear but you get what you pay for. Other than that cant add anything else.

Best rain gear you can get is to move away from the west side to the east side. Put the money towards sun glasses instead of rain gear.

Rokslide has a forum on rain gear, it's really informative. I'm getting my first light coat very soon, heard its very good stuff.
