I've had 4's and 8's in mine. As long as you're not video'ing, they work fine. I left 4gb cards in 2 of my cameras all summer. A little risky I guess, but it turned out fine and didn't take "too many" pictures to fill the cards. I have since replaced them with 8's.

Depends on your camera

Are you talking about battery life? I run a 16 gig in my Bushnell trophy cam with lithium batteries in the winter(30deg. to -15deg.). I usually get an average of 8000-9000 pictures in 4 months and the batteries are still full charge.
$5 is a lot of money if you ain't got it

Do most cams cut JPEGs? I would assume they don't shoot raw and spit out 25 megabyte files like does my 6D  :o

No talking about how many gigs an SD card should have.

Seems as though it's overspending to put 16 gig cards in especially since I'm going to be a cheapskate and go with lower megapixel cameras.

If you are planning to leave it out for long soaks, the more space the better. Another thing to think about as far as space is how many shot bursts you want to use. I go with 3 on mine because there are times when the animal doesn't stop or it gives me a chance to get different angles on critters. What sucks is if a doe or something comes and sets up camp in front of your camera and you end up with like 300 pics of the same stinking deer.  :bash:

yes, still pics are individual jpegs  The video option is usually mpegs.

Also, 4 to 8mb cards are all I use too.  No need to 16mb, especially since you can adjust cameras resolution and get 1500 to 2000 pics on a smaller card.

I have always used 2gb and 4 GB cards. Only once have I filled up a card. It was a 2gb and had 2,900 pictures. I normally check my cameras every two weeks but that time I let it go  6 weeks. I don't see the need for 16gb cards. I think even 8 is more than I would ever need.

I've never paid more than $5 for a sd card.

I put 1400 pics on a 4gb card  last summer if that means anything. I put the camera out in June and picked it up in September and didn't touch it in between.
 :dunno:

Pictures getting taken at 8mp, jpeg format.

It takes me a long time to get back to my cameras sometimes, so I use a 16 gig just in case. I don't want to miss anything!
