There's a meeting on the 11th (I believe) to review potential rule changes so it won't be until after that.

I would guess by the 18th. You can look at the proposed reg's now and it probably won't change much from that, if at all.

Why is our dfw always so far behind?  Old regs expired and they plan a meeting to inactive new regs 2 weeks later.  What is so difficult about holding such a meeting like 2 weeks before they expire? This happens every damn year.

Does it matter? It's not like a big game season is opening next month  :dunno:

My.guess would be that multiseason won't be drawn until after this meeting with the possible price changes.

I can't think of anything they are "behind on"?   :dunno:

The regulations come out at the same time every year. It's not an issue.

It is important to have the regulations out so that we can apply for special permits.  That is why I am anxious to see this year's regulations.

Should be out by the end of next week, just in time to begin applying for special permits.

This is just like the multi-season draw. Why do you need to know today? Planning on elk hunting tomorrow and not sure about whether it's open yet? :chuckle:

Why do we like to know early?  Because some have jobs that in order to get time off, we need to put in requests as early as February.  The later it gets in the year, the less likely you are to get approved for time off.

me too, I want to get started on the permit choices with my hunting crew. The annual selection dance with everyone running down the list of reasons why their hunt choice(s) are the ones to go with, ahh it gets the season started around our place! January 1 wouldn't be early enough for me.

Just because you need it doesn't mean the department needs to post the booklet for 2014 in February. The official Hunting year starts on April 1st until Mar 31st, not a calendar year. They used to post future dates in the back of the booklet but I'm sure you can call the hunting line and get the dates for the hunts you're interested in asking for time off to do.
