« on: April 02, 2014, 08:21:43 PM »
So after camping march 1st in the tucannon, the ol lady decided tents were not for her, and that our 22ft trailer needs to be dusted off and spruced up. Its in decent shape, leaks and rot habe already beem addressed, now its time to make it cool

Anyone fixed up an old camper they want to share pics of?  I'm working with a mid 70s ideal 22'

I got a 95 northern truck camper I use once in a while,  like new inside but I need to figure out something with the siding I got some electrolysis going on in a couple of spots.

Aluminium siding.  It's just in the edges.   For now I keep it under cover all the time,  maybe next winter I'll put on new siding or trade in.

Here's a pic I snatched off google

What causes the electrolysis?
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

What causes the electrolysis?

I'm not sure  :dunno:

The aluminium turns powdery, so I know it's got to be the problem.

I don't plan on swimming with it  :chuckle:

the zincs are on the lower units on boats so they'll be submerged

I put a couple zincs on spots that were severely eroding on my old aluminum boat and it seemed to stop it, it was on the top of the transom.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

What causes the electrolysis?

It's not electrolysis but rather oxidization of the Al. Clean it off then spot paint.

This trailer had been flooded and I got it cheap. All the appliances worked perfectly and I hated to scrap it so this is what I did after work for about 6 months. I would not do it again. It turned out great, but had me second guessing myself several times. I've since dyed all the pink to hunter green.

If you have any questions let me know. I've done just about everything that can be done to one of these now. Had to rebuild the fridge last year and changed the water heater. Both were a couple hour job on a Saturday.

The electrolysys is caused from leaks. Make sure to stop them! Aso check the grounds on all your lights. A really good patch for the holes is Marine tech. Its a 2 part epoxy. Not cheap but works awesome.
