neanderthal proof camera?

today I seen a beautiful little owl,it was in a bare tree and my camera couldnt get a good close up pic.hp digital.Any cameras out there for a dummy

Panasonic Lumix FZ18

Its what I have taken a ton of my pics with.  It has 18 power zoom and shoots through Leica glass.  Pretty idiot proof for what it costs.

I have the smaller FZ8 not good on long shots but pretty nice

I'm with Bone on this one, I got the FZ-18 and love it's simple to use and great pictures for the money.
