I got the 5500 so I would have room to take the kids on a few backpacking trips and have room to carry most of their stuff.  I don't need all the room but even if it is 1/2 - 2/3 full, it cinches down pretty nice and tight.  It doesn't feel like there is a ton of loose space and everything is sliding around.

5500 - 3500 = 2000  :chuckle:

EXO website says the exterior pockets and the load shelf capacity remains the same.  Here is a quote from the website = •The 5500 is 3″ deeper than the 3500 and 8″ taller with the extendable snow collar

Ok, I deserved that.

How much volume are you getting from the additional pockets?

Going by their website both the 3500 and the 5500 have the same 1,000 ci of exterior pockets and 2,500 ci in the load shelf area.  I assume that's before you add accessories.

Compressed with only day pack load they are dang near the same pack.  Fitting and riding like a medium day pack.  Very nice!  I just find myself sensitive to the huge snow collars.  I'd rather have a spike duffle in the load shelf area and eliminate the clutter of the snow collar.  Other packs I have had with large top collars I have cut them off.  But I'm a little anal retentive when it comes to the organization of my packs.

Got an update from Steve a day or two ago, and he said that mine should ship in 3 - 4 weeks, so I'm thinking mid to late May. Can't wait!

He told me that six weeks ago and three weeks ago...

Not sure if that is better than, "I don't have a clue."

Are you on the "Pre-Order" order list?

Kinda  :dunno:  I won mine in a contest that started in mid February on the Rokslide website, so I guess it's kind of "pre-ordered", I mean Steve knew somebody was going to win a pack.
