1st legal buck on our property
« on: April 08, 2014, 03:59:32 AM »
I'm pretty excited! Been planting cameras for a number of years now. Thousands of doe pics and a few lil guys. Some other cool animals too. Then, finally, this guy

Question: is he old or young?

Kind of hard to tell but he appears to have that roman nose look common with older bucks.
The only man who never makes a mistake, is the man who never does anything!!
The further one goes into the wilderness, the greater the attraction of its lonely freedom.

Im guessing young based on antler size. That time last year was when we were having a very cold spell and all the deer looked very fluffy to me. But I could be wrong.  :dunno:

I think older with a regressing rack. Kill it.

I would not be suprised if he was a 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 year old buck. He will be a dandy!!
I felt like a one legged cat trying to bury a terd on a frozen pond!

The regression thought was why I asked. Not the best pic but its all I got.  :(  One.... in the middle of the night!  of course

His body looks a bit hunched to me and filled out well and the rack is kinda small (thinking regression) but his head looks kinda small too (maybe a young-un)

It doesn't matter to me. Just thought it would be a fun question.

I'm just happy he stopped by for a visit and hope he hangs around for this fall

Huckleberry btw
