I've been fishing in the cascades, only to have a helicopter land and a couple guys bail out to fish after I had hiked in.
Yea there was some of that happening up Scatter Lake and they got turned into the sheriff last year.
It is unfortunate that these gentlemen passed on that way, Not sure if I would call it hard core shed hunting or an expensive hobby.
I have a buddy in Ak that has flown over area in a plane, located moose sheds then hiked in to retrieve them.

The only man who never makes a mistake, is the man who never does anything!!
The further one goes into the wilderness, the greater the attraction of its lonely freedom.

I'm guessing they had some monster bucks or bulls pin pointed in a specific area and REALLY, REALLY wanted their sheds before anyone else could get there.  Sad.
Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice

I was out hiking yesterday and there was a helicopter flying fairly low around the oak creek area.  Not sure if it was game department or someone getting really exicited to find something before May 1st.  After the 14 miles I put on my feet and seeing the helicoper flying around I did have a moment of weakness and wish I was in it as long as someone else was paying the hourly rate!

I know the area they were at quite well - there's nothing like it in Washington.  Some of the canyon areas around there where deer and elk winter are virtually impossible to reach except by helicopter.  Very remote areas around there that you can hike into with a great deal of difficulty, but you sure couldn't pack much back out. Going out of Green River I'm surprised they found them as quickly as they did.

Drones will be the way of searching for sheds in the future. :twocents:
The things that come to those who wait, may be the things left by those who got there first!
