I've seen that before back when guys would use molasses on bear baits.  Dumb bear would lick the hair completely off their sticky feet.  Maybe he found some good Pooh Bear honey somewhere :dunno:

I've also seen dogs do that after getting into porcupines.  But that would be odd for the hind legs.  Devils club maybe? 

Just adds to the story of a great bear!  One I expect you won't be forgetting any details of  for decades.  Looking forward to the story if and when you get some sleep.

The feet could be the start of mange. I got these pictures last year, looks similar.

Real nice boar, he looks solid! I tried to wake up my 3yo daughter to come take a look at the bear but she wouldn't wake up, she would've never pet the bear anyhow LOL. I'm stoked for you sled, congrats again. :IBCOOL:
