I'm sure I'll forget all about the MS deer tag while I'm in WI chasing those huge whitetails in the rut.  Still going to be a fun year!

Thanks RadSav, if you were closer I may take you up on that. I believe it was last year or the year before agentleman fell out of a tree stand in my home town and passed away from his injuries. After that I swore I would get the best Harness available. Have any suggestions on a good one?

I'm rather partial to Hunters Safety Systems - Elite Harness.  More because they are comfortable enough hunters actually wear them!!  They are also rather quiet compared to most!  The biggest key in harnesses IMO is getting one that is well suited to use with a Life Line.  So many worry only about falling from the tree stand.  However, last I checked with the TMA most injured hunters fell while getting "in" or "out" of their stands.  A simple $20.00 Life-Line will take that worry away.  A local rock climbing expert could tell you how to make one yourself for only a few bucks too!  One other thing I might mention about that...DON'T GO CHEAP ON CARABINERS!

Thanks RadSav, if you were closer I may take you up on that.

Lingcod - I can always ship one if you find yourself in a bind :tup:

I sent an email to the WDFW just to make sure there wasn't a problem with my application.  They sent back a very nice and very prompt response;

"Yes, Washington State did increase its application sales this year for the multi-season deer. You have gained the point to help in the drawing for next year. Upon review of your record, you did everything correct..."

Did they say how many applicants there were?  You and Herdbull33 have to be the unluckiest people alive.   :chuckle: :chuckle:

No.  I was hoping they would, but no such luck.  Had to of been at least 1768 more than last year.  Guess I should have kept my mouth shut or told everyone what a waste of time and money that permit is :chuckle:

I've already spoken to at least a dozen people who say they were drawn and are not going to buy the permit.  I'm finding it more and more difficult to smile and be nice :tung:

I have always been a proponent that if you apply and are draw, you are required to buy.  Whether you choose to use it is up to you.  I hate when a few people ruin opportunities for others.  :bash:

There's no way they could require that someone buy it. What if that person doesn't have the money?

Doesn't Montana do a redraw after tags get returned?  They could do something like that before the season starts.  You would miss out on permits but could still hunt all the general seasons.

And let's be honest if you aren't lucky enough to draw the MS deer you probably weren't going to draw any quality tags anyways. ;) Just giving you a hard time Rad, no offense or harm intended.

I do think that over the counter sale of the unused tags should be an option on a first come first serve basis for the two guys in your situation.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

If you don't have the money why are you applying for it?????????

And sure they can...they require you to pay a fortune for a general tag, why could they not require it.  They can do what they want....and if someone chooses not to they can be banned from ever applying again as a punishment.
