Wood burning backpacking stove

So I backed this project on kickstarter the other day for a titanium wood burning stove that weighs 2.8 oz. if I pair this with my titanium mug it would make my cook set less than 7oz. Anybody try anything like this? How hard are they to get going. Don't plan on using for hunting, mainly overnight fishing trips into the mountains to drop my weight below 15lbs.

Id rather just use a cat stove

Even with a couple boils of fuel your at nearly the same weight and thenif Iyou dont gota mess wit getting dry fuel

You can also build a stove with rocks that works good if you really want a fire...pretty much what I do on fishing trips

Here is my bushbuddy I made in 07.

I later drilled a few holes through to slide in a few stainless rods to support my alcohol burner at the right height and also esbit tabs. So it is a twig burner, alcohol and esbit burner. Mine in stainless, wish it was in titanium for sure to cut weight. I picked this size so my titanium kettle would slide right in for easy carry...

That's a nice little stove iceman, I figured it would be cool to give a shot. These stoves have always intrigued me and I like to do overnighters with my day pack so seems like space savings would be worth grabbing some twigs around camp for

Years ago I read a few stories about guys who staved off hypothermia by drinking warmed fluids off of wood burner stoves. I have burned my stove a few times and it does a great job of burning wood, even damp sticks will burn off in the stove once it is running. (gets really sooty though)

I would love to play with some titanium sheets and make a woodburner from it.

You mean the kelly kettle? That is really big I thought, plus I do not think that you can stuff a mug or kettle down the inside of it for carry...

The K kettle comes in 3 or 4 different sizes and is not a "stuffable unit".  It is however a canteen as well as water purifier, cooker, boiler, minor but welcome heat source.  Oh, and you don't need to buy or pack  fuel. It works by burning twigs, pinecones and whatnot.

Yeah, I used to do the ultralight backpacking thing...went through all the alcohol burners, wood, pressure gas... Saw the kelly....

I remember a 9volt powered fan stove that really cooked hot, light weight thing too, aside from the battery... It would cook pinecones as a primary fuel source... Man what a mess that would have been...

Some of the lightweight guys seem to take it to such an extreme, coiled up titanium foil wind proof stoves that looked like a spring loaded accident waiting to happen!

My back pack stove has always been a can of beef stew and a small pot that sits on the opened can. First night I take the lid off, dump the stew in the pot and cut three holes  with my knife in the bottom sides of the can for air. Start a small fire in the can with twigs and cones and sit pot on top. Cooks fast and minimal fuel.

Ha I remember that stove, they used to advertise it in the back of field and stream. I always wanted that one when I was in Boy Scouts
