First time Turkey hunt.
« on: April 18, 2014, 07:37:11 AM »
The ones with feathers!! This was on wifey's bucket list and I had never hunted turkeys either. We booked a hunt through Early Winters Outfitting and had a great time. Cheryl missed her first try althought the ranch owner said he saw feathers fly, shortly after she got a second chance on a nice Jake. 7am day one.

I got my first chance shortly after on a huge Tom. The guides worked their butts off to get us set up and I missed. It got spoked by a gust of wind and due to position I had to shoot left handed. It jumped 2 feet in the air and flipped over then got up and walked off, boy were we all bumed! That evening we spotted some birds where Cheryl had tried for her first and watched them for 30 to 45 minutes before they walked away. We left but on our return, there they were crossing the road. I busted my Tom at about 45 yards, there was no doubt this time. All in all, a great hunt with great people and done in one day!

Thanks to Arron , Judy and Chris for a great first time hunt!
