Rtsprings first turkey ever!
« on: April 21, 2014, 08:58:17 AM »
First time ever hunting turkey.  Hunted with my bow and misjudged the distance 27 yds and I used the 20 yd pin. Closed the deal on this bird after he busted me 3 times.  65 yard shot with Hypersonic #4's

Turkey hunting is right up there with bugling elk in sept!!!  Loved it.

I kill elk and eat elk, when I'm not, I'm thinking about killing elk and eating elk.

Nice bird, but if you were using Number 2 shot it is illegal.

From the turkey pamphlet.
Turkey hunters must use #4 shot or smaller (e.g. #6 shot).

Just trying to inform.

Nice first bird. Gongrads!

I am a little disappointed in the story however, I was expecting something like the bird was rabid, and attacked you, one of his spurs got caught in the shoulder of your camo when he attempted to jump and spur you in the head, so you had to take him out with a branch.....lol

Nice job man, I don't think I've really ever heard of people shooting turkeys with steel shot.

By the looks of his head it looks like you shot him with 00 buck at 10 feet.  Good shooting

Nice job man, I don't think I've really ever heard of people shooting turkeys with steel shot.

I planned on using my bow, got busted several times drawing back. Missed one and decided to use the shotty on the last evening! Trust me the steel was highly effective.  I swear by the remington hypersonics!!!

His head looks like you shot him with a bazooka, and had to take a step back away from him to get him in front of the barrel!

Good job on the kill!

Well done, RT. Nice bird! Hey, did you notice the recall on Remington 700 series for the trigger? That .280 might need to get the refit. Just a heads up, Kurt.
