New goat units
« on: April 21, 2014, 09:03:15 AM »
Anyone notice the new goat units.  Interesting the seasons are so short in these units.  Anyone know much about the goat populations in these units?  I'm just glad to see goat permits move in a positive direction for once.

I seen the added tags/units and was wondering why the shortened season also.  :dunno:

I'm curious to know if these tags are more of a solution the law suit and issues with hikers and goats. And not so much of a hunt able population.

Everyone put in for the Olympics since it hasn't been hunted in years, and I will tell you how dismal the hunting in avalanche gorge is.

Man there has got to be some big goats in the Olympics :dunno:. Just saying if there is a huntable population and they have not been hunted in years there has to be some old billies running around.

Why do you guys think they haven't been getting hunted?  Tribes never lost the season.  Think the Skoks got two last fall down near Mt Washington.

Snowpack, I don't follow your logic.  The Olympic hunt has returned because tribal hunting has continued?  What is the connection?

Saying that it is not like the area hasn't been hunted.

Gotcha.  If that is the case I would question why there is a tribal harvest (of goats), but no non-tribal harvest.  But I am not getting into that morass.  Thanks for the information; I didn't know some of the tribes were hunting goats in the Olympics.
