TOXIC BROAD HEADS
« on: April 21, 2014, 10:05:23 AM »
I'm looking at getting a few of the Toxic broad heads. What does everyone think of these? How well do they shoot? Looking at using them for Bear and deer this season. any inputs would be appreciated.

 :yeah:
I haven't used them, a friend did and swore by them sighting them in on targets. Then went hunting and cursed them.  Quartering away shot and it just glanced off. That can happen with any broadhead if you hit just the wrong spot but it left a sour taste in his mouth and he say he won't use them again.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

Most experiences I've read on here have been bad ones.  I would personally look at broadheads like wac'ems or something along those lines.  I've been shooting the wac'ems for the past few years now and have never had a problem.  My arrow flight has never been an issue and I've yet to lose or break a blade on one.  Blood trails and holes in animals from them have been impressive.

I've heard and read too many horror stories about Toxics to ever try them myself. This year I'm shooting Slick trick 125's for deer and bear and going to try the Solid S30V 125's for elk

Shot the elk in my picture with a Solid 125.  Never knew what hit him!  You will like them!

Any variation in a broadheads blade or ferrule design can impead its momentum and intended course through an animal. Any broadhead that comes with its blades "pre-bent" is begging for them to be bent even more upon impact. Can you kill a deer with them? yes. But can you find a better, more durable design? absolutely!

Before you decide give the Shuttle T a try. They do not glance off and leave a HUGE entrance hole. Blind man could follow the blood trail. The blades are .040. They willl not bend or ever come out. They are dovetailed into the ferrel.

I'd give up bowhunting all together if forced to use one!  It is better than an Allen or an Atom though.

Are Shuttle Ts legal in Washington? the back side of the blade doesn't appear to taper toward the nock?

Well this would explain why they have been on camofire all week...... I feel like such a sucker. I really should have listened to that MH. Now I have to explain to the wife why I need more broadheads.

I think they are legal. They do not taper towards the point and therefore are not barbed and can be used. They are great broad heads. I have killed a couple deer  with them.

:yeah: I am embarrassed to say I tried the Atom head once. They are junk. Left no blood trail at all. I am sure the shot would have killed the deer with just about any normal broad head.
