first shed lamp
« on: April 22, 2014, 09:39:08 PM »
Just finished my first shed lamp the other day and was curious how many others would like to share a pic of theirs. Matching 4pt w eyeguards and wires came from a goodwill lamp.

About two hours. The hardest part was drilling through the antler to run the power chord so it didnt look cheap.

Looks good. How do you drill up the antler to hide the cord? I have a bunch of elk sheds and want to make a light for above my pool table.

A long drill bit and i assume a filler will be needed for elk as they are a little too big

I used a 3/8in 4ft long thermostat bit. It only has about 3in of bit and the rest is smooth it is real flexable so it follows the marro easy. Had to drill from both sides because of the bend. Another guy i know drilled as far as he could one way and the other and took a visene dropper and put some water in it, put some drops in the horn and it softened it up enough to clean it out with a coat hanger.

I know its a terrible picture. But my hunting partner made this for his future in laws cabin. It's two match set 6 point bulls. He uses a small router to run his power cords and then a dark brown putty over it to hide them. This is the 3rd one he's made and they all have turned out awesome. The picture doesn't do it justice.
