Ahh, something new  8)...  Watch the clip and tell us what you see and hear going on. What type of bugles are you hearing? What is the bull you can see doing? Any thoughts on the the unseen bull..what's he up to?

New at this but....
Looks like the bull is rounding up the cows to move them away from the other bull that is calling.
Near the end it sounds like he changes his tone to sweat talk the cow that ran off back.... :dunno:

Man that brings back some memories, i miss hunting quakie patches...
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

The bull pictured is using a classic flight vs fight choice.  He is using a  gathering bugle and attempting to move off with his cows. The bull in the distance is using more aggressive bugle in attempt to challenge for the cows (which at least one has taken interest).  :twocents:
Phantom please pick my post apart as I am always learning and have been wrong more than once.

So the bull you can see is definitely trying to get his cows moving away from what he might consider a threat but the bull in the distance does not sound aggressive to me at all. It is always hard to tell but the second bull sounds on the smaller side. I think the bull you can see just doesn't want anything to do with having another bull getting friendly with his gals even if the other bull is not yet a threat.

Nicely put sir.  Here's an angle for consideration.  The bull in the distance is advertising himself and his elkhood which is really pissing off the bull with his few cows in the white tree flat.  This youngster is pretty darn proud of his small group of cows and has made the immediate decision to take his toys and leave vs competing with the uphill intruder.  This small herd bull is doing everything in his power to pick em up and move em out  ;).  Perhaps his bugles are not completely directed back at the intruder higher up on the hillside to the left, but, as much towards his cows?  He's screaming at them in an urgent manner to get them on their way.  So, is the herd bull screaming at his cows, responding to the intruder with a challenge/warning bugle(s), or both?  Just a thought.  Good stuff guys.  Thanks for chiming in.
