light hikers

so with summer fast approaching i am looking for a pair of light hikers warm weather lower type hiking shoes. what do you guy have and like or dislike. i had a pair of merrell last summer but they were gore tex and did not breathe and were far to hot and made my feet and shoes stink. the shoes them selves were pretty good but i use them for work a bit too and didn't last a year. i want something light and cool for summer hikes with the girlfriend on trails and maybe into archery season depending on weather and temps. what brands and models are good?

I really like keen hikers. I have had a couple pairs. My newest are gore tex and I can tell I will have the se issue as you last year with breatheability... but I needs them and they did t have my size in vented in stock. My last ones were vented and I really liked them. I got 2+ years of use out of the last pair.

Ive put alot, an i mean alot, of miles on north faces ultra series, I think im on my fourth pair...the rubber is alil softer so if you use em on pavement itl wear fast but all in all its an awesome shoe....they are goretext but the breath good an still keep that annoying morning dew off your feet

Def get the latest generation tho and get your self a set of superfeet insoles

ive heard good things about the salomons . ill have to check those out too .i think the north face may be to narrow or my feet.

They do carry both, but they may not have the exact model you are looking for.  Word of caution, just because they are the same brand you may get a different fit. 

I can wear some Salomons just fine (and love them), whereas other styles are too wide in the heel and midfoot.

go right on down to the army surplus store and get a pair of green and black jungle boots, no better hiking boot known to man  :tup:they are lite and dry out fast when they get wet

My merrell moabs ventilator seem to be holdng up well. 2 seasons on them so far. I wear merrell mocs everyday so the moabs were an easy choice. No break in, by far the most comfy hiker I've came across.

I would like the same thing, but it's almost like you have to buy a specific pair for just mid-summer through early fall, because you are bound to get your feet wet on so many trails in the spring/early summer.

true and thats mainly what im looking for. i had the moab gore tex and those were the shoes tat were so hot and didnt breathe, the ventilator model may be much better.

I've worn the Merrell Moab Ventilators for about eight years or so, bought them for hiking / Sept hunting because my feet were so sweaty. These shoes took care of the problem so well that I started wearing them for work also. Good shoe, lasts me two years daily wear and costs about $ 100.  Not on sale very often but I grab them when they are. They come in a low or mid.

yeah its for real, why, hiked literally 100s of miles in those boots, put them through the absolute worst conditions from high mountains to the jungle swamps in south america, they hold up to anything, they are not for cold weather but the op is looking for something for warm weather hiking

anyone used these kenetrek light hikers yet? lots of people on here have great things to say about kenetreks so thought it might be worth a look. thought it said on amazon they were imported from china though any idea on that?

Vibrams! Takes a few hikes to get used to them but they are super light and very hardy. No joke. And grips like a puma.

I picked up a pair of Keene Targhee II mid hikers from cabelas last year, used them all summer and through early archery. Still holding up well. I'm very happy with them.
