Nosler ballistic tip muzzle loader bullet?
« on: May 22, 2014, 12:01:10 PM »
I saw a new package of these bullets this weekend at the local sporting goods store.  .50cal 300gr bullets, have any of you guys tried these yet?  if so, what do you think?  I saw that they are endorsed by Jim Shockey, not that that really matters.

ive got a couple packages, they are extremely accurate in my traditions with 90 and 100gr blackhorn209. They load impossibly hard and without a range rod, no way i'd get them down the .502" bore. They will not load in any of my cva guns either.

Are these actually 50 caliber bullets or are they 45 caliber in sabots?

Remember, Shockey also endorsed Shane Barbour.  :o

From the Nosler website it looks like the bullet is 0.458"

I'm curious what sabot they are using.  I wonder if you could find a different sabot, maybe a crush rib, that would allow the bullet to load easier.  I'll have to give them a try.... I like Nosler rifle bullets and have killed a lot of whitetails with ballistic tips.

Anyone know how well these perform on an animal?  Considering trying some for elk this year.
