Here is from My Daughter and I getting I guess a triple, she popped one and an hour later in the same set, we doubled. Story to follow.

Thanks, I'll do the write up tonight. Absolutely wildest turkey hunt I've been around. Got a total of four between us and our friend, in under an hour and a half, from same setup...pretty much.

It just doesn't get any better than that!!!  Job well done!  My daughter isn't hunting yet but practices on my turkey calls all the time, even calling a tom part way in last Saturday.  I'm hoping to get her out next weekend for a last chance at turkey #2.

Hadn't hunted turkey's in years and for fun decided to hunt this year because my son was interested.  Wouldn't you know it when he was with his mom I found one and called him in.  Then found a second one with him and forgot to chamber a shell before we setup.  Needless to say it didn't work out, but we'll be back after them this weekend.

Well, TD nope actually was invited to hunt with Ben Thompson, met him through Megan at work and we hit it off. He recently published a book' Beginning Turkey Hunting". it is in stores locally. So we went to some land he has hunted on for years in Newport.
Saturday, we found them still basically in a early season flock and in what he calls the Winter roost. So we had some close encounters Saturday, but the hens were prominent still. Bumped the big tom and one satellite Tom in about five minutes time. Most of Saturday was quiet after 9:30 and we spent most the day cold calling in known travel routes. Nothing til dark when a coyote started howling 100yards out. I think he was summoning re-enforcements to attack the hen(Me). Heard one distant gobble at Dark. as we are leaving we talk with the landowner, said about 25 birds marched through his yard and roosted at the neighbors.

Sunday: as we pull in Gobbles abound out of the neighbors yard. which is in Idaho, So Ben with a tag for Idaho, hops into his blind in the driveway, Friday he shaved wing feathers off a nice tom there. We head down to the road they normally leave to head through the woods. 5:30 we hear the gobbles heading straight for Ben....BOOM! He strikes first, and the chaos ensues I guess Jakes start gobbling and yelping and beating on his bird, during this time Callie and I hear that distant gobble from the night before still distant and infrequent. Never really answering my calls. Ben texted to stay put the flock went back down by their roost. a minute goes by and GGOOOOBBBBLLLLEEE! Real close, I ask Callie where was it, right out in front in the bushes. OK get ready.....all of a sudden Mr. Distant is standing in the road 15yds in front of Callie, but her gun is on a monopod and not inline. As any 12yr old would she starts wiggling to move her gun, Tom is wantin none of that so he turns around and putting..CRAP! So Callie out of position I swing shoot and miss....I think, by this time she had him dead to rights...Down he went. WOOOHHOOO! Ben comes down pictures hand shakes and he decides to head back grab his gear and come with us to fill his last Wa. tag. Well about the time he gets to the truck two gobblers fire off out in front again about 100yds. I text him to stay put, we hop right back into the Gobbler loungers and commence to cluck and purr, it drives them nuts but one problem, my hen decoy is visible to them the whole time. So they just strut and gobble for what seemed ike forever, Callie now said she needed to cough. NO WAY! HOLD IT! birds are now about 50yds, I hear a spit....Dad I have to cough bad....NO!....then Bbbuuummmm......Bbbuuummmmm. He's drumming behind a bush about 30 yds, away. Finally after three centuries I see the red and white bobbing into the open, two nice toms pop up out in front about 15yds...NOW NOW NOW! I whisper...BABOOM! Both drop like a sack with out a flinch. Ben said it sounded like a muzzleloader going off I think I had fired my gun before Callie's quit reporting. we timed those shots as good as you could. With my nerves being what they were I'm sure I heard the click of her hammer releasing to hit the firing pin Her first bird fell at 5:50 our doubles fell at 6:50, all from the exact same set, 11/2hours and we had four birds down. Never I my wildest had I expected a day like that. we have deemed it " One for the Ages" And to find out Ben's bird that morning was the same bird he hit with the arrow on Friday, so it was good to see it wasn't wounded somewhere and was a clean miss other than a primary wing feather or two. Kind of like catch and release hunting shoot at hime once and get the opportunity to shoot at him twice.

Nope Meg had some minor surgery in March, on the DL for this season. Fully plan on taking her out to this spot next year.

That's so great!  Well deserved and earned !!   

Can Callie cough now? 
 I'm glad that when you said "now now now" that she "shot" instead of "coughed coughed coughed".   

Hope Megan is recovering well.
Cheryl goes in for right leg surgery, then left leg in early June ... then torn rotator cuff shoulder mid-July.

Went to Indiana (Terre Haute area 2 days) and Missouri (Branson 7 days) from Apr 25th - May 3rd ... saw lots of turkeys, but didn't go hunting (didn't want to sleep on the garage floor upn return home  ).
