I've been turkey hunting in Yakima county for about 4 years and have yet to have any luck so we decided to accept an offer from a friend to go up to Colville with him and hunt turkeys over the weekend. We arrived Friday afternoon and were immediately into turkeys but couldn't get them to come in. Saturday morning we were set up in same area with me and my wife about 60 yards apart and we had some decoys set up. We had 9 hens come through and a coyote at about 15 yards but no gobblers. Seen about 40 turkeys in the distance next to where my friends were set up and I could see him working a nice tom but he could never get the tom to come in. They did end up shooting two jakes so it was a very productive morning. Me and my wife headed out in the Afternoon behind a gate and we were just stopping to call every 500 yards or so and about a mile in I get two separate gobblers calling back. So we get set up on a knoll and I start calling them in. I could see them come out about 300 yards away and they were strutting and heading our way fast. I told my wife to get set up and be ready. They both came up over the hill in front of us at 30 yards and I told my wife to shoot. She shot then I I followed up on the second bird and we had two nice Toms down and were totally pumped. One had a 9 inch beard and other was 10 inches with decent size spurs. Needless to say we are both totally pumped and can't wait to go again. If it wasn't for shrimping and Halibut coming up I would probably go buy another tag and be out this coming weekend lol.
