Most of my guns are calling guns and I don't take shots beyond 300yds, most shots are 20-150yds.

Rem 600 6x45mm LEUPOLD 1X4X20MM

Stevens 200 22-204 Sightron 1.5x6x42mm

Savage 11 6mm-204  Sightron 3x9x42mm / Nikon 1.5x5x20mm depending on terrain

Hunting in lead free areas.

Rem 700 243 Win  Elite 4200 1.25x4x24mm / Mueller 4.5x14x40mm again depending on terrain

Backup/truck gun, it stays locked in the truck on most hunting trips.

Stevens 840 222 Rem Weaver Grand Slam 4.75x38mm

I like a large FOV for those close in and hard chargers, for me  4x is plenty for a 300yd shot.

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

AWS,

I'm curious about your 22-204. Sounds like the 222 RM, whats the advantage?

Your scope choices are very practicle. My problem with the 4x is I have a hard time getting good groups during site in.

I'm not familiar with that exact round but I know the .204 case is more filled out with a sharper shoulder and the shoulder blown forward.

Sagebrush, think 222 Rem Mag Improved.  MHWASH thanks for the help.  The 22-204 has nearly a 10% gain in powder capacity over the 222 Rem Mag.  It pretty much duplicates the 223 Ackley Improved, but feeds well and there is no fireforming involved just run the 204 case into a FL 22-204 die and load.  The 22-204 is about as much as you can get out of a small bolt-face cartridge and still have common reasonably priced brass and little case forming.  Even reloading dies are easy for this cartridge.  I use a 204 Ruger Redding Type "S" FL Bushing die and just changed the expander stem, expander ball and bushing.  I built a 25-204 and a 6mm-204 and use the same die for both of these also, just have to change expander ball and bushing

Just ordered ( the day before the election) a RRA Varmint AR 24" in 223 Wylde.  It will be saddled with a Shepherd 6-18 x 40 M556. The Shepherd has 9" rings graduated out to 1000 yds,  in this case compensating for 55 grain 556/223, so you can reach out there and touch em.  :mgun2: The 223 Wylde will handle 5.56 or 223 Rem. without any issues - cause you never know.
May that for which I prepare never come to pass.

My AR has a Nikon 4.5X14 with BDC. Love it. I really like the side focus.

My 22-250 has a Burris 4.5X14 with there version of the BDC. I do like the it but prefer the Nikon.

Nikon Monarch 5.5-20 on my RRA Varmint.
60gr BlackHills ballistic tips were going 3 into 1 hole last weekend.
Not sure what you think of 77gr Matchkings on coyote but I'm confident out to 300yds
