forgive me for not having all the info, however Kirby Wilber was talking about this tax.It will tax you yearly on the size of your motor.A 5.7 or 350 would be 250.00 bucks, less for smaller and more for bigger. Now it didnt make it last year, but he says to watch for it this year and it will be under another name.there is six seattle area but munchers and fish kitten lovers trying to get it on. :yike:

Yeah, the greens have been talking about this for a long time.  It is nothing more than backdoor socialism.  They hate so called big oil, so they start attacking them through our government.  Next, they make up some silly scam about global warming being caused by the bi-product big oil's commodity (i.e. CO2).  Next they use socialist methods to push alternatives to the oil on the rest of the world knowing full well that these alternatives could never meet the demand and will cost consumers much more, but they don't care because it fits their agenda.  They do this knowing full well that these alternatives are also carbon based just like oil.  Guess what the bi-product of these alternatives, like ethanol, is?  That is right, CO2!  Next they come up with a tax and trade scam to further force business to behave as THEY believe best.  (They use these taxes to spread the wealth around.)  Next, they attack SUVs as a bigger user of oil and try and tax us into using the vehicles they believe is best for us.  Very predictable as many have been telling people for decades that the Nanny state is here now if people would just open their eyes.

Like I said, it is nothing but backdoor socialism.  Can't outright get the government to control business and peoples behavior, so they just use trickery.

I hate to say it, but I think the Republican party has turned into a bunch of cowards.  Waffling on everything and scared of its own shadow.

Things are not looking good...   >:(

What are their grounds for doing this? Are they suggesting larger displacement engines use more fuel? My Excursion has a 7.3 that gets better mileage than most 5.4's :dunno:

It is the same grounds as they always have.  They are attacking SUVs like they always do.  Like any good liberal, as long as it doesn't affect the way they live, then all is good.

What they are trying to do is force people to buy more of these little green cars even if they don't want to.  Higher taxes on bigger vehicles puts downward pressure on their demand.
