OIL average points
« on: April 30, 2014, 06:30:39 PM »
Anyone else notice that every one of the Once in a Lifetime tags, except youth, all had 10 and 11 average points to draw last year? Even the units that only gave out 1 tag. This tells me that everyone with 12 or more points already surpassed there opportunity to draw one of these tags :chuckle: . Unfortunately I'm in that category also >:(

:chuckle: Yes.  I also noticed the last 3 powerball jackpot winners were an average 49 years old.  An equally useful statistic to wdfw's average points.

I gather this was posted as satire, but just in case anyone really takes this seriously: average points for OIL tags are completely meaningless.

For "any moose" in 2013, applicants drew with every number of actual points from 2 to 18. This table lists points, applications, and successful applications for each point level.

20   5   0
19   7   0
18   372   10
17   238   3
16   244   7
15   638   8
14   648   6
13   675   9
12   766   4
11   873   6
10   1,032   4
9   1,107   3
8   1,147   5
7   1,303   4
6   1,430   1
5   1,505   3
4   1,608   1
3   1,790   1
2   1,766   1
1   2,533   0

Except for those with 1 point, correct?

So even with permit app price increase, they managed to sell to an additional 800ish people over previous years.

The Yakama and Muckelshoots have been hunting bighorns for several years. You wouldn't like to hear how many tags they give out!

Those 12 guys at the top must figure WDFW hates them even more than they hate me  :yike:

NICE!  :chuckle:

My wife says I have too many points and that it only takes 8, so I'm going back to about 8.

Yeah, your names in the hat how ever many points you have. I drew in '08 w/10 points. 49 had 22 tags that year and 14000 put in for it.
