Vane orientation
« on: June 02, 2014, 03:37:30 PM »
Another rookie question. I had a Whisker Biscuit put on my old bow. All of my arrows are fletched at 9:00, 1:00 and 5:00. I see that the biscuit says not to let fletching hit the black bottom portion. I can already see wear in the 5:00 fletch on the 3 arrows I've been shooting. Is it easier to re-fletch the arrows, or remove and replace the nocks? They are older xx75 2315 arrows with the tapered back.

You'll find it cheaper and easier to replace the nocks.

do they even make those knocks anymore?  wow.  if they don't, you might have to cut the taper off your arrow and buy inserts.

Really anything other than a whisker bisquit is an upgrade. I hate them.
If anything has to touch my arrow upon launch, I dont like it. They do really poor in late season to due to the cold. The whiskers get real stiff and do crazy things to your arrows including tear off fletchings.

Unless its a glue on knock you should be able to twist it so that your fletch orientation is 12,4,7. Whisker biskets are better new than after they have been used a bunch. They work great at trapping your arrow and for short tree stand shots to 30 yards they are hard to beat. If your going to shoot longer or desire more accuracy then some kind of a fall away is much better. If you want something the requires less moving parts a octain or NAP rest are pretty good. They contact the shaft but not the vains.
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

The revolution 2.0 is a very nice rest. Its inexpensive and its a full containment/fall away. My girl uses it and does really great specially being a new archer. Placed 2nd in womans devision at the Iron Amos 3d.
The QAD is a supreme rest IMO but its alittle pricey.
