Got my turkey with my Bow!!!! Finally...
« on: May 04, 2014, 07:03:30 PM »
First thanks goes out to my (COACH). If everyone remembers he bought me a new bow last fall. Never shot a bow in my life until I met Coach. He took time out to teach me from the start. I made many mistakes and probably still do.

Thanks COACH!!

Been at it for 3 weeks with my bow. spot and stalk, I cant sit there and call birds in. I hear them and just stalk them down. I have missed and missed again and got busted numerous times. Saturday Morning I see this guy with 4 hens from a 100 yds away, i went into stealth mode and got to 33 yds after about 45 mins of hiding behind trees, taking a step and freezing, step by step I got into range. He had me pegged at 33 yds, turned to walk away. i drew back and held a long time and he turned and I let it fly! It found its mark and I yelled like a kid in a candy store...

Been shooting my bow for 6 months and practice everyday.. Lesson for young archers! You will fail... But with each failure you learn a ton on what not to do next time!!!

Thanks also to BlrMan, RadSav and Whitpirate!!!
You guys have helped me a ton!!!

Fantastic job. Turkey with a bow is a big trophy in my book. Sounds like a hell of a good hunt too.

Congrats on your first bird with a bow!

I'm kinda in the same boat as you. Been hunting the last 3 weeks with my bow but never can get a clean shot off. Heading back out Saturday to try again. Hope this weekend will be it!
