Muzzleloader Suggestions
« on: May 09, 2014, 01:24:53 PM »
I purchased my Multi Season Deer tag. I am looking to purchase a rifle to get practicing.

Any suggestions on what to buy, where to buy it, etc?

Do you have any suggestions for additional hunting items when using a Muzzleloader, which will make things easier?

Thanks for the help...

are you looking for a traditional or in line  muzzle loader ?  a 50 cal  is about the easiest to fine all shooting supplies for around here and the type of gun you want   would kind of help so we could  give you some of the pointers you may be looking for.
you are going to need  a capper    may be a short started   a couple of speed loaders  may want a nipple wrench to carry with you  just depends on the extent you want to take it   .i dont carry a hole lot  just a few items to fix and issue  that might come up when out in the woods   and just a few speed loaders  oh a good ram rod  for sure not a wood one  but one you can depend on out in the feild

the local shop has a brand new in box cva bobcat .50cal sidelock for $199. Be more than happy to help you out if you are interested and figure out shipping. Shouldnt be more than $225 total with shipping. I almost bought it but decided my 58 was all i needed  :chuckle:

I use a Traditions Vortek UltraLight NW.  Its stays drier longer.  Designed for use in WA.  I also use FFFg powder rather than them thar pills, I mean pellets.

If you haven't bought your gun yet, Look at a CVA Accura V2.  Out of the box with 100 gr of BH209 and TC 250 grain and Super glide sabot, I got 1.5 inch groups.  CVA has something like a 17 day warranty, if it is not the best patterning gun you have shot send it back for your money back.  Also lifetime warranty.

IMO this is probably the best, but expensive - you can get them in Washington at various stores.  Also consider the new DISC Extreme.

Keep shooting muzzleloaders - They are a blast!!
