gmu 513
« on: May 02, 2014, 05:26:19 PM »
Posted this in muzzlerloader section and got a couple of replies so I figured try here.  My son is turning 30 this year so thinking about  a muzzy hunt in the wilderness area via getting packed in.  We usually hunt modern but I've been itchy to try muzzy.   Not looking for your honey hole's more like pressure in the area, weather, hiccup's in the wilderness area or suggestions for other area's or packer's.  You can PM myself or post any info. Thanks for taking the time to answer and GOOD LUCK this upcoming season.

There will be over 60 rigs at one of the more popular trail heads. Lots of horse camps and back pack hunters.  So you won't be able to get away from people.  Bulls will talk a little on the opener then seem to quiet down after the first round of shots ring out.
Weather varies year to year.  Could be 80 and dry or snowing so prepare for both.  Good luck.

Lots of guys bugling from high points in the mornings. Everyone seems to neglect the concept of thermals just blowing the elk out for the hunters who know what they are doing. And if you do get on a hot bull odds are there's another hunter who is gonna start calling the same bull. Good Luck
