Wyoming Preference Points - Special vs. Standard
« on: May 13, 2014, 12:49:59 PM »
Need some clarification on standard preference points and special

I've been building up points by buying the points only option.  Can I apply these preference points towards "special" by just buying the more expensive license when I apply next year?  Can you draw party tags with the special option?  I don't remember needing to pay extra for a "special" preference point only as an option.  Seems like a good deal to pay slightly more, but draw coveted tags in 1/2 the time.  Am I missing something here?

A point is a point. counts the same in the special or standard draw. You can use them in party apps. WY averages the points between everyone in the group. They don't round up or down.

Also make sure you check the draw odds. Sometimes paying the special tag price does not help you. I have seen some units in  the regular draw have better draw odds then the special. Sometime the special draw only has 1%-2% better odds ( you can decide if the added cost is worth it ). Sometimes the special tags help a lot. just depends on the unit.

The cost of the point is the same. Once it's a point, it's a point... No matter if in years past you applied for the regular or special pool. You just get a larger refund under the special if not drawn.

Late June.
Economy failure = Too many people spending money they don't have on things they don't need to impress people they don't like.
