Hey Darren, is that your boat in your profile picture?  If so I'll make you a deal.  I fish a lot and hunt a lot.  You take me out fishing and I'll tell you all I can.  I usually do good around Edmonds for kings.... I love next to discovery park. Where at in Seattle are you?

Yo Hogslayer,

Nice man. That's my buddy's boat actually. It's a good thought, though, maybe we can put something like that together.

We went out of Point Defiance. Crabbing and trolling with the downriggers and got that pink salmon. Weren't no monster, but fed four adults the next night, so worked out great. Boiled up the crab the night of and served it up with some melted butter and sourdough bread. Good eating, made the wife smile.

Are those a couple of kings in your profile pic?

Cheers,
-Darren

Just a quick thank you to this community for being awesome.

I posted this about a week ago and have been fortunate enough to make a handful of new acquaintances who have been generous with their time and expertise and helped set me straight on a whole bunch of stuff. As a middle aged guy who is coming to the sport from basically zero, this has been a tremendous leg up.

So thank you. Take care.

Howdy pilgrim, welcome to the site. Google Earth is a great scouting tool so you are on the right track. Getting your Hunter Ed card was huge, you can't hunt without it. My next suggestion is to get out and shoot, a lot. Get to know your fire arm like it is an extension of your own arm. I don't know that I could mentor you, but I can probably give you some decent tips. I would like to sit down over a couple of beverages sometime if you don't mind heading up North a ways. I live in Marysville but could meet in Everett sometime. Or we could meet at the Cabela's in Marysville.  PM me if you are interested.
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I'm not!
