Truglo muzzleloader ghost ring
« on: May 16, 2014, 04:34:10 PM »
I got my new left-handed gunsmith screwdrivers the other day so I installed the Truglo ghost ring sight on my CVA Optima V2. Worked out pretty good.

Are you putting the globe on the front also?

I have that sight on my Traditions Vortek along with the front globe sight as well. Its a nice set up, shoots well and a big sight picture. Careful not to tighten your elevation screw too tightly, the head strips easily. I know from experience.

I'm not sure about installing a globe. I don't know a thing about them or what they look like (I'm a bit of a greenhorn). I did install the Truglo front sight that came in the kit as well. It's a little larger diameter than the stock one.

Not a huge fan of the Truglo...but if I were to do it, I would set it up like you have it.  I may even consider the smaller, original, front sight.  It will not cover up as much of your target at longer ranges.  I really am not a fan of the globe up front.   :twocents:

I put the truglo on a couple of years back.  I didn't care for it at all.  Imo very cheap and wasn't on my gun for very long. 4 Shots removed and put the williams peep on. I hope you like it more than I did.

I'm not sure which sight is lesser quality, the Durasight that came with the rifle or the Truglo. Great thing is it seems I have options and a little time before September rolls around.
Here's the front sight:

Truglo doesn't offer the globe front sight for ML's anymore, just for airguns now. I will admit that Truglo is not the best quality of product out there. However the bead on the globe front sight is far smaller than any other front bead I have seen around, perhaps 1/3 the size. I've found it to be very accurate and you can see far more of your target at greater distances.

...that's what she said. :)
CVA is producing those palmsaver ramrods for other brands as well. Check their website.

Mfowl. I think you might be right regarding quality. The allen head adjustment screws basically wallered out after a few adjustments. And very difficult to fine tune. I'm just going to put the OEM sights back on for now.
