Rifle work?
« on: November 29, 2008, 01:34:57 AM »
So Ive been hunting with a new rifle of mine this season in ID. Ive come to like it much more than my other 338's. The rifle is pretty close to ideal, but even then, theres a few things I'd like to do to it. I guess, try as we might, things are never quite perfect. So what are some things you'd like to do with your FAVE hunting rifle?

On my Ruger, I'd like to chop four inches off of the tube, give it a different crown.
2, I'd like to find a way to permantly color the stainless.
3, Finding a peep sight that utilizes the Ruger built in mounts would really be cool. That or one of the nifty sights they put on the new Ruger Alaskans.  Add a partridge ramp fore sight, and I'd be pretty happy with it.

Ed LaPor is good but, he has one heck of a back log and he is spendy.  Hey Tim where do you live?  I'm from Poulsbo too.  We should get all the guys from Poulsbo together and have some adult refreshment and tell hunting stories.  Anyone interested?

everyting you ask for is doable. you can blast it for a matte finnish, cerkote for any color under the sun, rogard and np3. lopping off the barrrel is easy.....but what cal? it might become a fire breathing ear splitter. anyone ought to be able to solder a sight on and tapp your barrel.....ta da.
