Scope suggestion. FN SCAR .308
«
on:

Looking for scope suggestion for a new SCAR .308 for some long(er) range shooting. Probably go with a Vortex but not brand name committed. Budget is sort of open ended. This is for my stepfather.
Thanks in advance. This isn't exactly my area of knowledge.

I'd go the Nightforce route if it were mine.
If it's too difficult for him to decide, he could always sell the gun to me at a very reasonable price so I could afford the Nightforce.

Hey Josh,
What's he gonna do with it ? EOTECH perhaps.
He's got the same rifle in 5.56 with the Trijicon Acog and a RMR on top of the Acog.
He wants to run the .308 with an actual scope for longer range shooting.

Since you are already like Vortex scopes, this would be a no brainer. I'd mount a Vortex HS-T to that thing as fast as the UPS man could drop it off. That's if you're trying to be a little budget minded and if not, you can never go wrong with a NF.
For the money, I'm very impressed with the new HS-T by Vortex.

Look at the Vortex Viper HSLR. I ordered one from Elknut and its a real nice scope. They come with zero stops and you can get custom turrets for them from Kentron. After that its either a NF or a Vortex Razor.

Best to have several - ELCAN SpecterDR 1.5-6x & NF in AD-DELTA QD mount.
Depends on cash flow and what is expected of it.
Some good info here-

I am also looking for a scope for my recently purchased SCAR 17S. I have only read great reviews about Primary Arms 1-6x with ACSS reticle. Top of the line quality at a fraction of cost compared to Vortex, Luepold, and others.
Give it a look.

I 2nd the HDMR I have a couple of them and a solid rig for the price and you can get the H-59 Reticle. I am running on my Larue .308 OBR. 3.5 X 21 will stretch that barrel out pretty far.
