You'd think that with the frequency of these threads popping up on here, that someone involved would be checking in on here more regularly to make contact to prevent these threads.

If you're suggesting mods or admins check in on her, it's not our job to check in on her. With that said, other people besides dissatisfied customers have tried to make contact through multiple avenues to no avail.

Maybe I'm missing what you're suggesting.

No, not mods.  If I had a business that was on here a lot and a bunch of threads started to pop up concerning it...I'd be on here more often and checking the inbox to prevent even more threads.

She's been removed as a sponsor, advertiser, and moderator....so for all intents and purposes, her business is not "on here" anymore. I do agree with what you're saying...that's what a responsible business owner would/should do.

She has an email address and a phone number for people to contact her. She rarely is on here anymore.

They probably need a former customer to be an expert witness.  Know anyone? ;)

If she won't reply at all,... Small claims?  Sometimes just getting served is sufficient to change a person's tune.  Might not, but it can't hurt.  If she doesn't show to court, then record the judgement in superior court and you have a lien on her home and a mar to her credit record.  You'll have to go prepared to establish the value of your property in her possession and that can't be based on your opinion.  I know there's no money that can replace the stuff, the purpose of a suit is to get the ball rolling again.

I've never actually sued someone but my understanding is that in small claims court its actually pretty cheap and easy. If you have a good case its not hard to win, either. Getting bad people to pay up can be another story.

:yeah: I sought out and spoke to a lawyer once about an issue I had with money owed to me.. basically the lawyer said WA is one of the worst states for civil cases/monetary judgement. He said you can win a case fairly easy with the right evidence, but GETTING ANYTHING after you have a judgement is a whole other issue. Basically no laws for it once you have your judgement and it's up to you to get that money (almost in the same predicament you were in before). So you win, you get a judgement, then if the person chooses to not pay up then most of the time people are forced to sell their judgement to collection agencies for only (at a high end) of 20% of what's owed.

It would have cost me more to hire this lawyer than I would have got in return, I almost went for it, just on principal to stick it to the person but decided I'd lost enough money already.

the real purpose of suing is this:

knock knock knock.....  "hello", "Ms are you Michelle Nelson",  "Yes".  "You've been served, have a nice day".

Getting served with suit will get those that have been lazy rather than devious to get off their but and prevent getting the judgment against them. Once a judgement is moved from small claims and recorded in superior court it becomes a lien against their home and tracks with credit.  That's real harm that you would want to avoid if all it would take is opening your freezer and handing a guy back his bear.  It will cost the OP 5 hours driving and $35 filing fee.  Service can also be done by registered mail.

For this case I'd attach the registered mail envelope to a huge box so that she might think she was signing for a hide.

Campmeat,
I can see how this may have come across as looking for someone to do my "dirtywork".  That wasn't my intent.  I have no problems facing conflict.  I do have trouble getting very far from home.  If someone was closeby and willing, I'd be willing to work something out for their trouble.  My biggest fear is driving over there to then not be able to find her......then what?

I understand what you are saying and would help you out if I could. But I can already tell you that she will not release someone's mounts to anyone other than the owner. I get the idea, but it gets to be ridiculous when it is advantageous and expeditious to all.

I suggest trying to contact her in every way possible (especially Facebook), multiple times.

Maybe you should begin legal actions. :dunno:

Thank you guys who have offered solutions and helped directly.  I was able to reach Michelle today and believe we have worked out a firm date of July 3rd to pick up completed work.  I will keep you posted
