Sage grouse season lost...

For anyone that has aspirations to hunt these, and I remember there were a few, you'd best make it happen pronto because your window of opportunity is closing.

Dang it. Already have a trip planned. Road trip through Mt. A couple of days at my BIL ranch for a cow elk, then east for chickens and grouse, pheasant as well. Then to the Dakotas for a couple of days. The wife decided she was an upland hunter last year.
Really wanted a grouse, but much more concerned about the numbers. My understanding is the population decline is primarily a habitat issue, since there is not much chance of redeveloping the unbroken habitat they need, in a timely fashion, we will cross sage grouse off her list.
For me, well just because a few can be hunted elsewhere, I don't want to kill the last one legally taken, then watch them disappear.

Really sorry to see this.  I was planning on going to MT this fall to hunt them.

Any news if WY is going to follow suit?  As I understand it they have better numbers, but guessing theirs are trending down too.
