Lowa Boots

I'm in the market for some Lowa's and was wondering which Lowa's some of you have and how you like them. I tried a pair on today and they felt great. I'm just torn as to which ones to buy.

Boots are always tricky...what can be gold to one guys foot gives another blisters in 15 minutes.

I have a thinner heal, with a slightly wider forefoot (not quite a W), and I went with the Lowa Cevedale Tech Light Hunters...I've got upwards of 70 miles on them this offseason already and have been very very pleased.

I have the Lowa Ranger GTXs. Love em. They're not a really tall boot but they were comfortable from day one and retain their stiffness/support. I can't say enough good about them.

Call Lathrop and sons. Steve put me in a pair of Lowa Khumbu II with the synergy footbed and my feet haven't been happier.

Like others have said though the fit will be subjective to your feet but the Lowa build and durability are impressive.

How do the Khumbu's hold up under heavy loads and side hilling? Those are more of a "hiking" style boot right? I'm leaning towards the Tibets due to a previously broken ankle and needing as much support as I can get.

They have a full length shank that tapers from 5mm in the back to 3mm in the front.  Making them good for biting in on side hills and steep slopes where you can only plant your toes.  I wanted to try out the Cevedale Mtn. Tech Lights but may wait.

The Khumbus were great last year in the frozen late season on the east side (which tested the ankles about as much as they can be).  I plan on running these boots from the early season too late.

I have a pair of lowa tibets that are pushing 9 seasons now.  Worth every penny.

I've used Lowa boots exclusively for the last 10 years and will not be changing anytime soon. I started with the Sheep Hunter model and then they renamed it the hunter GTX. I'm into my 3rd pair but still use the first 10 year old pair around the place when its not to wet out.
 I use this boot everywhere. From guiding in 100+ degree New Mexico to -10 degrees at 1400 ft in Pakistan. I always wear a thin wicking liner sock along with a quality hiking sock and have never developed a blister.

Good to know. I have been looking at the gtx extreme but I'm not sure how warm they will be. Its been hard to find good reviews. Maybe because they are pretty new. I'm sure they will be fine while walking but once I get to where I want to be I will sit for several hours, and that's where I wonder how warm they will be especially in some snow.
