2007 Twisp Bear
«

Here are a few pictures of my 2007 Twisp Bear. I got him on Sunday up the Twisp River drainage a mile or so back from the road. He has a very thick coat and is a great color. From nose to tail he is just about 6' long. We brought in over 100 lbs of boned out meat to the butcher so he was probably 250-300 lbs live weight. The pictures shown are not where I got him, we just brought him down by the river to skin him out.
Not too much of a story but here it is. I was hunting with my 11 year old daughter and my buddy and his daughter. We were about a mile in when we decided to split for an hour or so and each take a different trail. We came back to the meeting spot a little early so we sat and watched a draw while waiting. We kept on hearing noises in the draw but I just thought it was a squirrel but my daughter said she was sure it was not a squirrel. We were not there for about 10 minutes when I saw movement in the bottom. At first I thought it was a deer as all I saw was brown. Once I glassed him I knew he was no deer. I quickly brought my rifle up and told my daughter I was going to shoot. She covered her ears and I shot. He ran about 30 yards and that was it.
It was a great weekend and we ended up seeing one more bear which was even larger but could not get a shot off.

Thanks for all the comments. This was my first bear and I am pretty happy with it. I have seen others but wanted one that I could hang on the wall or get mounted.
