Leupold VX 2 or VX 3, best scopes for the money, AND best of all, made in the USA.

I would recommend this one, extended power in case you ever get out to the east side, but still low enough power to hunt the timber comfortably.  Has turrets in case you decide to extend your range.

I am looking for the exact same thing for my wives new .270. I asked a friend and he suggested the Leupold VRX fire dot 4x12 with the drop compensator. His girlfriend and another friend have them and he said they both love them.

The Redfield Revolution is a great American made scope and is very affordable.  I have three and haven't had any problems.  A step in price but the new Zeiss terra line is pretty sweet to but they aren't made in America.

If it was me I would have a light weight scope for a light weight gun. Far as power range would be max. would be 8x to 10x. That is what binoculars or spotting scope is for. I would keep objective diameter below 44mm to keep good cheek weld to the comb of the stock. I have a Burris Euro-Diamond 2.5-10x44mm with ballistic plex on my 270wsm and I just installed a Leupold VX3 2.5-8x 36mm with the Boone & Crockett reticle on my 375 Ruger Guide Gun. :twocents:
Nothing like a Remington model 700xcr.

He may not care but it's important to me. Especially since there's nothing better for the price and you can't beat the warranty. My dad just bought a Leupold scope at a garage sale for $50. The reticle was broken. He sent it in to Leupold and had it back in less than two weeks, it's now just like new. Why not support a company in our neighboring state, and all the people they employ?

Burris or Nikon for me.
I just bought a Nikon Monarch 3-12 with BDC.
Great glass and very usable mag range.
Too many Leupold failures for me to feel comfortable owning one.

I've never had an issue with Leupold, but from what I've heard, their customer service is great.  My own personal preference is a VX-3 2.5-8x.

I put a Meopta next to a leupold a couple times.  :bdid: now the only lupy I see being worth the money is the redfield line. Nikon and vortex have a much better price point for glass very similar to lupy.

Here are two options with the German schott glass used in the zeiss.
