ran into an a-hole
« on: December 01, 2008, 11:05:05 AM »
I have to tell this story, there are some real #*&%heads out there. I wish this guy I ran into vivsited this site but I know that folks on here wouldn't do what he did.

Thanksgiving morning we show up to our spot about 1/2 hour early to get everything ready. We park, get ready and then drive to where we spot where we regularly park. As we're driving there, I see a truck behind me. I pull in, park the truck, start to get out and the other rig pulls in right behind me. He drives towards our hunting area and parks. We figure what the hell, there's room for all of us.

As we walk by his rig at about 50yds we hear him beat on the side of his truck. We keep walking and then he yells " what the F&%$ are you doing?" I then realize it must be the same guy my buddy had an encounter with at the same spot a few days earlier.

I tell the guy I'm going hunting and starts yelling about us parking right behind him. I think this is funny since we were parkd and getting out as he drove right past us, 10 ft away. I let him know that we were here first, which he already knew and that he was actually parked on land that is posted no Trespassing. He got even more mad and started yelling that he was going to make so much noise he' run all of the deer out, then he went off, beating on his truck and honking his horn.  was so friggin pissed I was shaking. I wanted to walk over to him and beat his A$$ so bad but I held myself back.

I decided i'd walk back to my truck and try to get this idiot on video. Once I got to the truck he decides to leave.

I can't believe this guy accused me of pulling in right behind when he was the one that followed me there and drove right by when we were getting out. This is a place that I've hunted almost 20 days this year and a friend of mine has hunted it over 30 times and this guy is screaming at us how all of us weekend hunters screw everything up, and this happened on a Thursday.

I hope I don't run into this guy again, or maybe I hope I do???

just had to vent a little, watch out for these guys.

Ya that's a crappy encounter, you showed a lot of restraint. I started to feel my anger build as I read through the story. I'd really feel sorry for a guy like that's wife and/or kids. Imagine how he treats them.

Yea, you run into all kinds out there >:(

You certainly showed a lot more restraint than I would have I'm afraid. Good on ya for taking the high road. IMO those types of folks need to stay the hell outta the hills. There's no place out there for idiots like that.

Great job controlling yourself! I wouldn't have been so calm! Yet, what do you do when you're dealing with idiots?? Consider the source and hope he doesn't do it again.

No kidding...

Get his license plate number next time and turn him in w/ a written statement of what transpired.

If my dad wouldn't have been with me, I think I would have controlled the other guy rather than myself, I don't think I would ever have regretted it either. This guy deserved about anything you could throw at him. As far as getting his license plate #, I did call the WSP but I didn't want to try chasing him down for the plate #.

Nice job on keeping composed...  Next time just walk up behind his truck and take a pic of his license plate with your cell phone and let him know that you will turn it in to the LEO as he is in violation of hunter harassment laws.  Will also give you a good place to start looking if you come back and find your property vandalized.

The best thing you did was walk away and go hunt somewhere else.  That kind of thinking can get you in a world of trouble.

You had the right idea of the video...   I just got an email of a guy making a site we can all start posting stupid hunter videos.  We as a whole can embarass them into acting right.  Learn how to use your cell video recorder or bring a video recorder with you.

These are the types of situations can make a decision to do something they will regret the rest of their life. Congratulations on making the right decision Bluebulls. I do like the camera/recorder idea. These people need to be held accountable!

Some people are just idiots. That would have been hard, keeping your cool like that!
I hope you kill a monster buck soon and he gets to see it in the back of your truck.

Could've messed with his head a little. Maybe tell him that you had been following him since Tuesday just to get a chance to "park behind" him. Then let him know that a truck horn makes a great deer call before thanking him.

Sounds like this guy would've been pretty easily confused (since he was confused from the start).

I think you made the right call though. Cooler heads always prevail.

Right or wrong, you should have yanked his dumb ars out of the truck and gave him a spanking, tought him its impolite to yell at people and make noise like that during hunting season and that acting like a little sissy will get him a time out  ;)

Anymore, instead of getting all pissed like I used to at idiots, I just blow kisses and wink. It REALLY pisses people off. Pretty funny and harmless, but it gets their blood boiling. :chuckle: If you see him again, just blow him a kiss and smile.

He did it again!!!

My buddy just called and he had another run in with the same guy at the same spot. It sounds like the same kind of deal although this time the guy threatened to kick my buddies A$$, which I'm pretty confident he couldn't do anyway. My friend held his composure and just called F&G. The guy ended up leaving but not before his license plate # was written down.

I would like to hunt this area this weekend with my 2 year old daughter but now I wouldn't dare. Maybe just me and the video camera.

I'm pretty heated now!!!!!!!

Hang in there!  I'm glad your friend got the plate number.  He can be charged with harrassment.   At the very least, the GW should run the plate and then call the guy and warn him to leave you guys alone.
