The headline is a little deceiving, glad they were able to keep the quota at 5, but I'm not tracking where this was an Anti-Trapping proposal by ODFW?

I think the answer to your question is in the following excerpt from the article:

"Factual testimony overruled the lack of scientific information on why the reduction was proposed by ODFW staff and why the proposed reduction was needed.

In other words we were successful in thwarting another attempt to reduce Oregonians right to harvest one specific component of our sustainable natural resources. This is just another example of the Oregon Outdoor Council fighting the anti-wildlife harvest elements in Oregon."

Wildlife management needs to be based on sound and unbiased science.  Apparently the ODFW lacked the scientific information in their proposed attempt to reduce the bag limit.

I totally get that and completely agree with the outcome, they must have been taking notes and trying some of the BS their Northern Friends in WDFW have done.  BUT I still don't see this as an Anti-Trapping Proposal.  Maybe I'm just dense.  :)  Nothing to argue about and glad for the outcome.

It then could easily be called an anti-hunting Proposal also. It would have cut the individual quota on cats to bring harvest closer to the target harvest. Would have equally effected trappers, hound hunters and boot hunters.
Fact is Eastern OR cat harvest has exceeded ODF&Ws targets for the last couple years. Last figures I heard it exceeded it by about 15%.

I don't happen to agree with their targets for harvest but I also don't think ODF&W is anti-trapping or this proposal to be anti-trapping.
