Idaho Department of Fish and Game defends handling, collaring wolf pups

Niemeyer’s known for the number of wolves he’s captured and handled – more than 300. He retired from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in 2006, where he was the wolf recovery coordinator for Idaho. He’s currently doing contract work with wolves for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.

How long has Carter been trapping and collaring wolves for WDFW? And the next question is, how many wolves have WDFW actually collared in WA?

I know Neimeyer trapped here in 2009 and then one other time.  Not sure if they have used him any more that that.

The WDFW has been collaring quite a few wolves recently.  It will be good to see what data they generate with the new packs/collars.

One of my big Beefs with the WDFW is that they have not shared Basic information about wolves and their progress. They could Let the general public know how many collars they have and the basic areas that they are working on documenting more packs. I know you think that everyone who is skeptical of the WDFW and wolves is  :tinfoil: however if they actually cared about what Sportsmen and rural people thought they could at least be a little more forthcoming. They could do it with out jeopardizing their studies  or the "safety" of the beloved wolves.

That is kinda odd Special T.  Oregon puts out information in a very timely manner. You know when a wolf has been collared or when a depredation takes place.

One of the MANY reasons why the image of the WDFW is less than stellar.
