« on: December 01, 2008, 04:42:35 PM »
Hi :hello:.
Me and my friend went yesterday ( Sunday ) to Skookmchuck unit .Right on the gate ,i saw couple more guy's with bow too.May be it was someone from this website too ..not sure  :dunno: Anyway saw lot of track's ,some deer dropping, some cat dropping ..and no animals  :dunno: It is first time here ,looks very promising ,but so far don't see any animals .I am just wonder how good this area in late season ? I think may be is been hunted hard  ?! Any idea's ?
Thank you
Vadim
P.S. Oh almost forgot ,later in afternoon some idiot was shooting shotgun ,and have a dog with him ,they both was making sooo much noise  >:( >:( >:( I am not sure what he was hunting ,but surely he was spooking everything away  >:(

That place gets hit hard and the shotgunner was probably hunting pheasants or grouse.

I live right at the release sight and this place has been pounded something fierce! There has been on average 7 cars parked at the gate with numerouse others parked on the power lines ans pretty much every corner you come too. If you like to hunt elk when there toungues are hanging , have fun  ;)

I don't know about the late season, but the early archery and the mod firearm season is combat hunting at its finest. Its 15 minutes from me, and I don't even go there.

Yeah, maybe you should look elsewhere.  There's no big bucks in there anyway ;)

There's lot of areas to hunt in the Skookumchuck GMU that aren't going to be that crowded. Are you saying you hunted at the pheasant release site?  (which is also where all the elk hunters go)

Try going somewhere that doesn't hold elk if you're only looking for deer.
