Wenaha east late buck rifle
« on: June 12, 2014, 05:39:50 PM »
Hey my brother drew the late quality buck rifle tag for wenaha east.  We have elk hunted the unit a lot in September and know the area well.  Just never deer hunted it in the rut, you guys have any good stories from this hunt or helpful info?

Not a lot of deer but there can be some bruisers. My hunt down in that neighborhood a few years ago was post rut. They won't migrate down until they're forced to and sometimes not even then. Those deer are a different breed down there.

Some monsters in there. I have the early muzzy buck tag. I have shot a couple four points out of there during general rifle. Nothing huge but they are there.

My wife killed this Whitetail in 2012.  It crossed the road right in front of us,  opening morning of general rifle season.  Haven't been able to reproduce that luck the last couple years though.
