Question on 2 vortex scopes

So I'm debating on a vortex viper HS LR 6-24X50 and a vortex viper HS-T 6-24X50. Has anyone used either of these and how do they handle at the long ranges and long range hunting? Or just any information on them would be helpful thanks.

My pops put a new Vortex HS-T on his Rem. VSSF a couple months ago and has been very pleased with it so far.  He took it prairie dog shooting a few weeks ago and was happy with the results.  I know he liked the reticle of the HS-T better then the HS.

Sportsmans Warehouse here in Puyallup had the HS LR 4-16 on sale for $399 recently.. so if you go with that one you might want to check with them.. it's a hulluva deal.

I picked one up on the sale, and it's an awesome piece of glass. I was going to pick up a different scope, but it was too good of a deal to pass up. My only complaint was the elevation turret is in 1/2 MOA increments.. kind of a bummer. The HS T would have been my choice if they had the 4-16 in a 50mm obj, and it was on that good of a sale.

EDIT: I just realized you were talking about the 6-24. In that case I would certainly go with the HS T. The HS LR is still 1/2 MOA adjustments on the 6-24, and the windage turret is capped which I'm not a huge fan of. Also, the scope is only available in first focal plane. If you want that, great.. but if not - you're paying a lot more for something you won't use. Either way - that 1/2 MOA elevation turret is a huge drawback for anything long range.

I have 5 pieces of vortex optics ranging from a red dot to a viper pst and rqzor hd binos... never had a lick of issue with any but my binos. They were promptly replaced. Funny how a guy can badmouth a product he doesnt own... i have vortex scopes on my 300 rum and 375 h&h and they have not had any issue at all. Track true and operate well. With my rum i have alternated between 1000 yards and 200 yards plenty of times and i am always right on usong my pst. Admittedly they are not nightforce or schmidt and bender but they also dont cost what nightforce does. I feel they are a great value for the money.

If you are referring to what I said I would hardly call that badmouthing. I simply passed on what MANY have said. Look at some other forums and you will see it is well documented that there have been a lot of problems with them. I'm glad you haven't had problems with yours.

I can find a lot of scope failures of any brand on the internet...

I have two Vortex scopes, a set of binos and their rangefinder.  Absolutely zero problems and I would buy them all again if I had to go back.  Dollar for dollar, I don't think you can do better.

I have the hs-lr and I love it on my 300wsm, got talon binos and love those, wife has diamondback binos loves them, got the razor hd 65 spotter I don't go anywhere in the woods without it, range finder best iv had. Best warranty and company iv ever had to deal with on something happening/breaking it's nice getting brand new when something breaks or if it's repairable it's nice getting a full professional cleaning done to it...

But I feel you will enjoy the hs lr don't have to shoot the turret I do when I'm screwing around and just shooting for fun, it's nice with te zero stop so when I am hunting I just make sure it's turned to the stopping and what not... Haven't had any problems yet with it I like the 30 mm tube too let's a ton of light in.

If you plan on shooting LONG range the 1/2 MOA adjustments would be a deal breaker in my opinion. It blows my mind they tout the HS-LR as a long range scope but have adjustments that are less fine than industry standard.  You'd think they'd have gone to a 1/8 MOA adjustment on a truly long range scope.
