Input on Garmin Rino, yes, again...
« on: June 19, 2014, 12:24:28 PM »
Don't beat me down, I know it's been covered, I looked at past threads. Really close to pulling the trigger on a new gps. Want to go with the Rino since I'm taking out a greenhorn this season, he'll get one as well. I'm looking at the 530hcx(not easy to find, especially new), the 650 or the 655. What do you think? I don't see myself using the camera on the 655. I want to be able to use micro cards. I'm not sure the loaded map is worth it because I want to know property ownership so will probably get the hunt map anyway. Hunting new ground in MT this season, want to know where I'm at, at all times. Will be selling my Etrex Vista if anyone's looking. Thanks in advance for the help!

I have the 530 hcx and love it. I think the bigger screen on the 650/655 would be nice and they are touch screen but not sure how that would be. Cabelas just had a sale on the 650 for $350 bucks which seems like a great price, might still be on sale.  specially when guys on here are selling the 530 for $250-300.

Get the 650 and the Hunting GPS chip for the states you plan to hunt in.

Glad you couldn't either, I jumped to their site as soon as you posted, got all worked up not finding it. That would be a heck of a buy. Found the 650 for $414, best I've seen online so far.

Love me my 655T. Get the screen protector I've heard about. Mine is scratched.

Ya, I saw one of your old posts about it, part of what convinced me to look a bit harder at them. Is the wife allowed back into the bed yet or does the 655 still hold her place on the pillow?  :chuckle:

Nice, thanks for looking into that! That's a big help. Hey, every little bit helps, more diesel in the tank for the dirt roads! So, next question, what can you guys tell me about maps? For now I would like topos and property ownership for MT and WA. Has anyone found any decent free ones? I had some on my etrex but am not sure where they came from, ex huntin' partner found them. To buy each state at $100 for 2 units, that adds up fast.
