Tacoma Sportsmen's Club. Wire Shoot 3D
« on: June 19, 2014, 12:46:18 PM »
Are you ready for the challenge, The Ultimate Hunting Challenge that is. Tacoma Sportsmen's Club will be having the 5th Annual WIRE SHOOT 3D on August 9/10,2014. This is a 2 day shoot with 30 targets each day. This shoot is a warm up for hunting season. The targets will be set up to mimic actual hunting conditions and shot placement. There will be a small nail with a length of wire attached to it placed in the correct shot placement. When you spin the wire on the nail and it touches the arrow that will be +10 points, if the wire does not touch the arrow it is -10 points. There may be some shots that you may want to pass on, but that is up to you. There will be door prizes and awards on Sunday.  Camping is free as usual. See you there.

Could not find anything on line to describe it so here it goes. Person my poor artwork.  If arrow "B" is touched by the wire as it is spun around the nail then it is +10, if. The wire does not touch arrow "A" then it is -10 points.

For those of you that like shooting 3D shoots and more yet, like to shoot 'kill shots' based on the angle of the animal instead of the score ring which is not the best shot many times because of the angle...........this is the shoot for you.
Rog(bowpredator)covered the basics already. Great shoot and super practice for hunting.

Ohhhhhhh totally understand it now.. I don't know why, but I had gotten like 10 different descriptions of how it worked and everyone said something different... but a few kept saying "you spin the wire with the arrow" so all I'm thinking in my mind is I have to hit some wire and make it spin on impact  :chuckle:

So on the facebook page, it says rangefinders are allowed for this realistic shoot, correct?

BTW, awesome drawing

Always carry a flagon of whiskey in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake

Genius and Insanity are neighbors, and they often share sugar.

We'll be there. Went last year & it was really fun.  The wire follows the curve of the animal so the angle of the arrow is really important.

The wires were way too short last year. They need to extend about 1" past the animal, LOL.
Rog, I don't remember rangefinders being allowed last year?
