High Hunt
« on: January 18, 2014, 01:42:10 PM »
Hey guys,
I pretty new to hunting, just finished my 3rd modern firearm season. Deer mostly been Elk once and would always love to get a black bear. Thus far I've been mentored by a friend of mine that im not sure is going to be much of a friend any longer (long story). I have another  buddy that I love to hunt with who is pretty young yet very responsible and mature. We are ramping up to start planning an area to scout in the spring for the high hunt this September. I am a Christian man with strong family values. I respect integrity, honesty and authenticity.

If there are any guys out there looking to start a high hunt tradition, or need a couple guys for an established group, id like to chat about it.

Im looking at the glacier peaks area but am not married to that area.

Thanks gentlemen and GO HAWKS.

 Hello Gentlemen,
I too share the same values and my Lord and Savior is Jesus Christ.
I hunted the high country for Mule deer, Pasayten Wilderness, this past September and took a nice 4x4. My son-inlaw took a nice non typical 5x6.  We booked with Sawtooth Outfitters (www.altalake.com) they provided a wonderful deluxe camp hunt.  But am considering their drop camp for the next time around.  I can't make it this year as I have a Montana elk hunt booked in September but would be interested in hooking up for future hunts, and maybe I can help you with some advice based on my past experience.  Good Luck and hope we meet.

Thanks Arnold,
Too bad about you this year enjoy that hunt in Montana.
I cant really afford guided or outfitted hunts. I really wish I could as I sure miss the luxuries of home when im out there. At this point im still packing it all it with me. I would like to pick you brain a bit about the Paysaten area if you up to giving guidance. I have been in the Glacier peak area the last few years.

It's nice to see I'm not the only Christian on here looking to harvest some quality meat. Maybe get a Christian hunters camp setup. Any interested parties PM me. If nothing else we can share some stories of past trophies.

Hey, I have been trolling around here for some time but haven't had much to contribute.  I am in a similar position, looking for a few good guys to head to the mountains with.  I actually enjoy hunting by myself, but the solo bear backpacking trip has been a tough sell with my wife - probably for good reason.

I am looking at Baker wilderness for bear and mulies this year but will be starting out from scratch.  I would also like to find somewhere to establish a multi-family deer or elk camp that I could bring my wife and two kids (5 & 10).

I do have all the gear I need (hunting, backpacking, wall tent camp) and am in pretty dang good shape for a 40 year old guy - thanks to Crossfit.  I'm sure I could keep up with 95% of the guys out there.I am in the Arlington area with modern deer and Eastern modern elk tags as well as bear (and hopefully a good draw).  As far as style points, we attend church regularly and I make a point to keep everything perfectly legal and safe especially when around others.  I have taken many firearms courses and am proficient with rifle and pistol.

Ideally, I would like to go on a few day trips before planning anything major.  Let me know if anyone is interested.  I'll also be doing some scouting in July, likely longer day hikes.
