vulcan mountain sheep tag
« on: June 20, 2014, 02:26:29 PM »
I am new to this site and I live in southwest Washington.  I drew a Vulcan mountain sheep tag and was curious if anyone had any advice about that area.  I feel truly blessed to have this oportunity.

Thanks in advance for any information,
Bhaz

Welcome, and congrats on the tag.. one day, one day...

I have to ask, do you know nothing of this area? Have you been there?

Kinda rugged, kinda steep, sheep from private to public to private..
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

You are going to have a hunt of Your life! Take lots of pictures when scouting and durring the hunt. Please post them for us that do not have the tag.
Good luck. I will try to find out what I can for You.

1. If you have not visited the area you should.
2. Contact the local WDFW biologist.
3. Contacr the local rep from Washington Wild Sheep.
4. Learn the property boundaries between public/private.
5. Meet the private landowners and ask about access.
6. Scout, scout, scout.

Good luck.

I have watched the sheep from my property, it is about a mile down stream from the midway bridge. If you need a camp site you are welcome to use it.It's right on the east side of the river so you can scout from camp.

You'll almost have to contact this guy for access permission, his family own the majority of land from customs road half way up the mountain which is where I usually see or have seen sheep.  Gaining access from them without a large chunk of money though is highly unlikely.  Good Luck.  Too bad you didn't get drawn 25 years ago when there were sheep everywhere and the land wasn't posted!

He's got everything for sale, plus Ty doesn't own it, it's his Dad's place. Everything above there is pretty much USFS. I saw 2 a couple weeks ago when I was talking to the other guy who owns a ton of land around Olsons.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............
