I heard a rumor that they may enact an emergency rule change and up the limit to 6 fish. Anyone else heard this?  :dunno:

I'm headed over to the Columbia tonight to fish for the weekend, I'll try to send back a report asap. Have a buddy that caught 12 sockeye in a couple hours the other morning.

Can one fish for these Sockeye from shore somewhere, or is a boat required for Columbia?

Sockeye are probably the easiest salmon to fish from the bank as they usually run right against the shore.  Not sure where to go but Google will probably help you out.

How do you rig for them?

Trolling, flasher, 12-18" leader, smile blade with mini squid tipped with a pinch of shrimp.  Anywhere from 15-35ft depth.  And go a little heavy on the leader, 15lb min.

From the bank, never tried it but i'm sure a SnG with a chunk of shrimp would work just fine
